Saturday night David and I had the pleasure of spending a few hours together on a date night. I even have proof.
Dates nights are very important to us. We try to go out once a month. Sometimes that happens and sometimes it doesn’t. As of late (like the last few years) our dates have become a business meeting of sorts. Vital decisions are often made on date nights or at the very least we attempt to catch each other up on the goings-ons and the soon-to-happens. For example the decision to buy or sell a home, buy a new vehicle, change jobs, start a new hobby, make a big purchase, or even (yep you guessed it) have another child are all things that have been decided on date nights.
*Please note, we do not make these decisions on one night alone, contrary to what some may think we do fully discuss and pray about such things before making the final decision.
I’m happy to say though that last Saturday night no big decisions were made, with the exception of where to eat. We talked, we laughed, we ate wonderful Italian food and decadent desserts without ever having to make a pro and con list even once. Then we enjoyed the beautiful night outside while drooling over food at Harry and David and coveting cookware at Le Creuset. We discussed important things, like how everyone (admit it or not) has to resist the urge to break out into a jig when they hear a B52’s song, as Roam was played over the loud speakers.
Of course we probably should have been making plans or discussing a number of things, but it was nice not to. It was nice to do nothing of any importance, except to listen to each others thoughts and talk about things that didn’t really matter too much. So thank you my wonderful mom for babysitting my dear blessings so that David and I could enjoy a date, a real true date night.
I’m still working on the pictures from our beach trip so tonight I’ll share a couple since, ahem, my dear husband as been posting without pictures lately. 🙂
