Happy Thanksgiving

What a day!  We ate at 1:00 and then again at 5:30.  We are stuffed and tired.  I wanted to take a few moments to reflect what today is about.  A lot of people like to call today, Turkey Day instead of Thanksgiving.  I’m not going to be critical of them, but I think it is a mindset that we have all been in at some point.  We see today as only a time of getting together with family and eating.  That is a part of Thanksgiving for most, but we need to take time and give thanks.  Who do we give thanks to and what do we give thanks for?  I’m glad you asked!

So many times we give attention to all the things that are going wrong at the moment.  Let’s try something different and give thanks for everything that is going right.  Don’t take anything for granted this Thanksgiving; warm home, good meal, family, health…  I could go on and on.  These are things we take for granted too much.  I’ll take it a step further, thank God for our trials.  He is trying to make us stronger and more faithful followers.  Just as we should learn from our mistakes we need to learn from our current trials.

Back to who we should give thanks to.  I have many that I need to give thanks to; Casey, kids, mom, dad, brother, family, friends, but ultimately God.  If you are having a hard time giving thanks to God this Thanksgiving read a few chapters of Psalms.  David can help you out.  You can start with Pslams 95

1O come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation.

2Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms.

3For the LORD is a great God, and a great King above all gods.

4In his hand are the deep places of the earth: the strength of the hills is his also.

5The sea is his, and he made it: and his hands formed the dry land.

You probably won’t read this until Black Friday, but it is not too late.  We should have an attitude of gratitude every day.  I think I will trademark that phrase ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE!

This picture was taken today at our Thanksgiving dinner.  We found it a funny moment captured in time.  Pray that Casey doesn’t wake everyone up in the morning when she leaves and B4 will drink out of the bottle for me!
