Genesis 16-18

I’ve heard it said that the opposite of patience is lust.  We see a perfect example here of not waiting on the timing of God.  We have read the promise that God made to Abram.  Abram and Sarai were getting old and wanted to take matters into their own hands.  God’s perfect timing and perfect power were forgotten by them both.  Of course things ended up a hug mess.

Hagar was met and questioned by an angel before she continued down the road she was on.  Thank God that we get stopped in our tracks when we are in the middle of sin.  We don’t know in what form we will get stopped or by whom.  But thanks be to God that he doesn’t let us get to far down that road.  Sometimes He will let us go further than other times.  We are a people who sometimes have to learn from our mistakes unfortunately.

God renews His covenant with Abram.  A gentle reminder that He is still in control and Abram needs to remain patient.  God made it known to Abraham that he was going to destroy Sodom for their sin.  Abraham truly prays for the people of Sodom and we see that Lot is delivered out of the wrath.
