In Chapter 25 we read about the birth of Jacob and Esau. The two were different in character and personality. It is amazing how two brothers can be two totally opposite beings. We see it all through the Bible and we see it everyday in our household.
The rights were Esaus by birth but Jacob’s by promise. Jacob wanted to obtain the right by sneaky means not consistent with his plain demeanor. This right included the future possession of Canaan by his children’s children. Jacob wasn’t interested in the current blessings of his right, but looking ahead to the future possession.
