It has been a whirlwind past few days! Starting back to work after a week off is within itself a major undertaking. Casey and I have talked about the idea of going on a family missions trip for about a year now. We agreed when the kids got older we would go on a trip somewhere around the world. I had also been praying for God to open a door for an opportunity to do something out of the ordinary. This goes back to our posts about being bold and doing something out of our comfort zone. Monday while I was catching up on e-mails and reading posts in my rss reader I came across a missions opportunity in Haiti. I starred it to read later and kept on going through information. Monday night I went back to it and forwarded the information to Casey. I talked with her Tuesday morning and decided to fill out the application. I had been praying all along for God to give me a peace about it one way or the other. I figured I didn’t have enough time to get my passport renewed before the trip was to take place. I called the passport office to see what the turnaround time and the cost was. She informed me the renewal would have to be expedited to get here in time and it would be around $175. Woah…. I was already wavering and ready to back out. Then she asked me when my passport expired. I told her I was pretty sure it already had. I had Casey check it and it doesn’t expire until October 2010!
Last night I received an e-mail saying that my application was accepted!
So, I will be spending a week in Haiti at the end of July! I will be in Bonneau, Haiti which is Northwest Haiti. Haiti’s number one religion is mixed roman catholic and voodoo. I will share more details as I get them. Please be praying!
