This week has been a busy one. We’ve had revival all week and it has been a blessing. I have always told people our vehicles were hybrids. They run on gas and prayer! We picked the van up on the day B2 was born 7 years ago. It just recently went over 200,000 miles and has been running strong. On the way to help out with my first funeral service Tuesday the battery light dinged on the dashboard. I stopped by the house on my way to drop it off and borrow another vehicle.
Wednesday morning I jumped in the van with the thought of stopping by AutoZone on the way to work so they could check the battery. They weren’t open yet and the light hadn’t dined on so I proceeded to work. I turned off the Interstate and the light dinged. I wasn’t in panic mode yet. The radio cut off, it came back on. The horn started to blow. The van started to stutter. The power locks started going on and off in rapid mode. Luckily I was close to the Walmart and I turned in and parked.
I sat there for a few minutes, frustrated wondering what I was going to do. I would normally call my dad, but he was busy taking care of my grandmother. Casey’s dad was working. They had a service center in the parking lot of the WalMart so I decided to go over there after my pity party. I got them to look at it and got a ride to work. After I got to work I felt an enormous conviction come over me concerning my pity party.
God had been moving so much this week and I’m sitting in my van pouting about my current situation. I stopped and prayed for my grandma, those who had accepted Christ this week, my parents and everyone taking care of my grandma and just praised God. Fast forward to Thursday when I went to pick the van up.
I have always heard when God is blessing the devil is messing. I went in to pay for the van and exchanged pleasantries with the owner. He rang me up and the bill was $666.00. I started laughing and the owner gave me a weird look. I said, Praise God and started telling him how God had been moving this week.
When God is doing a great work in our lives or all around us sometimes the smallest thing can get our eyes off what is most important. The devil will do all he can to get us to lose our focus. Most of the time it doesn’t take much. He even claimed his work this week.
