1 Kings 12:4

Thy father made our yoke grievous: now therefore make thou the grievous service of thy father, and his heavy yoke which he put upon us, lighter, and we will serve thee.

The boys were studying 1 Kings 12 in school last week and we went over it one night during devotionals.  It is a great chapter and brings a great lesson on where and when to seek counsel.  I highly recommend reading over it.  I’m reading over it and the boys just look at me like they are totally lost.  I stopped and asked them if they knew what yoke meant.  They gave me a “duh” look and said yes.  OK, we’ll move on.  I wasn’t quite convinced so I asked them again and told them to explain it to me.

B1 quickly spoke up about the yoke.  “It is part of the egg, and you are talking about it being greasy”  How do you keep a straight face with that?  So every time I hear about someone’s yoke being grievous of course my mind will race to a greasy yolk.  Selah!
