Strange times

Simple question/thought tonight, but I really do want your input.  Are people today more sick than in years past or is the media more widespread so we hear about them more?  My personal view is that it is a combination of both.  The media jumps all over stories out of the ordinary.  All you hear about is the sick and twisted no matter what good news is taking place.  People tuned in by the hundreds of millions to see the miners rescue.  I hope the media was looking at how people want to see the good things that are going on all over the world.  Instead we become suspicious, cautious and paranoid about the people around us because who knows when we will cross paths with the next weirdo.

I will admit that I have come across some strange ones in my short life.  I have said that I am a magnet.  I am very cautious when I am out, especially with my family.  Has the media made me paranoid or the people I come in contact with?  I don’t walk around in a state of paranoia but am aware.  How about you?  Are you more cautious or more aware?

  1. I think a little of both like you said.

TV shows certainly don’t help me….I got “addicted” to Law and Order: SVU but had to stop watching because I literally lived in fear every time I left my house that something would happen to my kids. Sometimes I wish I could put CJ in a Moby on my back with D on my front just to keep them from people. Sad, isn’t it?

  2. I like to call those the “dead body” shows, the ones were your certain to get a dead body within the first 60 seconds. I think shows like that can make people both paranoid and desensitized.

  3. How many disturbed people stay glued to the tube and watch the multitude of crime shows and get twisted ideas? Bring back Ozzie and Harriet and Beaver Cleaver! Or, did those shows create disturbed people because no families could be that perfect.
Solution? Limit the amount of time you spend in front of that boob tube. Praise be to those that limit their children’s TV time as well!
