Retired words and phrases for 2010

I know it is still a little early to be posting end of the year posts, but I need to get something off my chest.  Last year around this time I let you in on a little information about words and phrases that get on my nerves.

1. Hot mess – “my hair is a hot mess”

I still don’t know if this is a good thing or a bad thing?  I think the two cancel out each other.  If you tell me your hair is a hot mess I am just going to agree and move on….

2. a minute – “I haven’t seen you in a minute”

This phrase is also used in conjunction with the above, ie. “I haven’t been to Mebane in a hot minute”  You do not need to put an exaggerated time frame on the length that we last saw each other…

3. Chillaxin’ – “What’s up?  Nothing, just chillaxin'”

To set this one clear, you can either be chilling or relaxing.  It is not humanly possible to do both at the same time.

What words or phrases would you like to see retired this year?  Don’t be shy!

  1. 1. LOL. I cannot stand that. At all.
    2. Ahem, you’re welcome.
    3. I swear, except I don’t.

2 & 3 are from a blog that I read and enjoy, but those two things grate me. 🙂
