There is an ebb and flow in our house that I assume goes on everywhere. Good behavior lasts for a time and then it flows into issues. I’m sure we have wrote in the past about behavior and it truly being the reflection of our heart. It is not a behavioral issue it is a heart issue. We are truly like our kids in this respect. We have just gotten better at our outward behavior. Our hearts are like the ocean waves coming in and going out. Our walk with Christ comes close to Him, then we find ourselves walking away, then running back to Him. Our children are the same with their heart issues.
A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.
What’s in our heart will eventually come out in the form of words or actions. Our kid’s behavior is a direct result of the condition of their heart. What is frustrating is when they cannot tell you what is going on in their heart. Just like when they are sick and cannot tell you what hurts. You know something is going on inside but can’t get to the heart of the issue. Pardon the pun. You need to pray for your kids. When they’re small, teenagers and grown!
We have these same issues. What are we feeding our heart? The condition of our heart will depend upon what we are allowing to enter into our hearts and minds. Are we feeding the Spiritual man or the fleshly man. Will we allow the world to overtake the spiritual man. A popular analogy is the stronger dog will always win. Which dog are you feeding more?
Are we guarding our hearts? What we listen to, talk about, watch, etc. Guard your heart today. Pray for God to help you stand guard for you and your family.
