A Birth Story – B1

Since we’re counting down days until the newest addition arrives I thought it would be fun to recount the births of the first four B’s in our family. Don’t worry, I’ll try to keep it short and sweet and forgive me if a few of the details are a bit sketchy. We’ll start with B1 today.

B1 was due around February 8th if I’m not mistaken. He was born on Valentine’s Day. I had actually started to have some signs of labor early that morning, a morning in which I had a doctor’s appointment already scheduled. We went to the appointment with our bags packed and after being sent for a short walk around the mall, we were admitted to the hospital sometime early afternoon. Once there our lovely mid-wife (who would come to deliver all of our current four children) decided to break my water and start Pitocin. B1 was born sometime before 8pm (I remember because she still had time to catch American Idol after the birth). He came weighing in at 9lbs, 6 oz.

And, his daddy looked really young.

We would soon learn all about things like meconium, circumcision care, and sleep deprivation. We loved him dearly (as we still do) and he would teach us so much about parenting. Then three short months later……to be continued.
