This one is still fresh in my memory so I thought I should go ahead and get it down before the details begin to fade.
You could blame on the black bean soup we had for supper the night before or the riding lawn mower that I fervently rode in an attempt to help my husband get the yard finished before the daylight faded, either way for the first time my water broke on it’s own in the wee hours of the morning on a Wednesday. I wasn’t having steady contractions and didn’t see any point in trekking to the hospital just yet, so we diligently washed the sheets and went about with our day. David did decide to stay home from work, just in case, so we taught school, had lunch, and even walked to the grocery store to pick up some diapers for B4. The kids played outside that evening, after a supper of cereal, and we enjoyed one of the last few evenings before the dreaded time change.
My plans were to try and sleep some that night, contractions were there just not too steady, and head to the hospital first thing on Thursday morning. Contractions got more regular around 11:30 pm and we decided it would be better to go ahead and call grandma to come stay with the kids so that we could head to the hospital. We stayed there through the night, my contractions would come and go, I still couldn’t seem to get into a good rhythm with them. Around 9:00 am Thursday morning it was decided that we start Pitocin (my water had been broken over 24 hours at this point), it wasn’t really what I wanted but I was ready to get the show on the road. B5 was born at 12:40 pm, delivered by a lovely mid-wife just as I had prayed for. He was 7 lbs, 1 oz, and 21 inches of perfection! He was the most amazing early birthday present.
He’s been such a blessing to our family for two weeks now. I can’t wait to watch him continue to grow and interact with his siblings. We’re so thankful that God saw fit to add this fifth blessing to our family. And yes, we do plan on updating the header and photos here at some point, just be patient we’re moving at a bit of a snail’s pace lately. Just know that it’s because we’re cuddling and enjoying our new little boy!
And now since you’ve already seen the hospital photos, I’ll share his newborn photos instead. Enjoy and have a great weekend!
