23Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.
I take the opportunity during my last class to teach how Proverbs 4:23 relates to technology. Keeping or guarding your heart while using technology. What does this look like for you? I identified some simple points that I covered. Staying away from things we shouldn’t be looking at. That’s an easy one. Next, stay away from foolish talk. You use your own definition for that. Don’t be a stumbling block online. And be wary of becoming addicted.
Some of the responses from my students were surprising. One girl admitted that she had skipped reading her Bible during her quiet time to play around Facebook more than once. One guy told everyone that he couldn’t go hardly any time without checking Facebook. I had to call him out later on in class when he was checking Facebook on his phone under the desk.
I pray that they took a little bit of the information with them and will think about it.
