Have you seen the show “Four Houses”? Probably not. It shows people going through each others homes and voting on the best house out of all of them. Anyway, it made me think of all the weirdness that Casey and I had witnessed when looking at houses.
I leave you with this one that I will not soon forget.
First off there was the scary animal flesh mask. I’m not sure if I had told this story before or not, but it was very unique. We were walking through a small house and the realtor kept talking up the full finished basement that the house had. We walked down the long dark stairway and the realtor had to go to the opposite wall to turn on the light. Casey and I are standing in the dark basement at the base of the stairwell when she turns the lights on. My immediate response was turn them off, turn them off.
It was one of those moments that you could not possibly take all of it in. My senses were assaulted and I honestly think I stood frozen for what seemed like an hour. I didn’t know whether to run or get closer. Here is what I did remember from the room.
A full face mask, think Mexican Wrestler, hand stitched together made of different animal skins. Yes, it did have holes for the eyes and mouth. This was sitting over top of the lamp shade. The right hand side of the room was landscaped with a forest wallpaper print, fake trees and artificial grass. In the middle was a full stuffed deer. I’m sure there is more, but that was enough for me.
Every time I ride by that house I want to stop and ask if they still have the basement set up like that. They probably wanted to move so they could expand.
What is the weirdest thing you have seen in someone’s home?
